Lynsey (the newest edition to our FEC team- don’t worry, her bio will be up in the community section soon) brought us some King Cake today for Fat Tuesday.
For those of you unfamiliar with the tradition, a King cake is named as such after the Three Wise Men who brought gifts to Jesus - Fat Tuesday is the last day of the season of Epiphany (the season commemorating the Wise Men’s journey) on the church calendar.
The cake is iced in Mardi Gras colors with a little plastic baby (representing Jesus) baked into it. The tradition goes that whoever’s piece has the baby in it will have good luck for the rest of the year (and has to bring the King cake to the party next year).
No sign of the baby yet.
